New airborne multiple-waypoint area navigation system incorporating an integral microcomputer that constantly monitors 10 VLF stations. Phase-stable signals for navigation are received from VLF communications stations (espec. US Naval communications network). The system automatically selects as its reference the best available combination of VLF singals to provide worldwide navigation capability. 10 independent receiver circuit cards allow the computer to look at all 10 incoming signals and to evaluate signal strength, signal-to-noise ratio, distance from the aircraft and other parameters.
