Software free of serious errors and definciencies is essential for aerospace applications. Over the last 15 years validation procedures and techniques have been developed whose success is evidenced by the almost perfect performance of software in critical missile and space applications. These methods will have to be improved if they are to be improved to be suitable for validating the larger and more complex aerospace software systems of the future. The avenues of improvement being explored for the future will increase the suitability of the aerospace validation procedures and techniques for other applications.
