New engine supervisory control system utilizes advances in large-scale monolithic logic and semiconductor memory technologies to achieve a digital computer system packaged for mounting directly on turbofan engines powering new-generation air-superiority fighters. The system is basically a parallel general purpose digital processor engineered to mount directly on the engine. It is believed to be the first digital computer successfully used directly on a turbojet engine. Control modes can be changed by means of software rather than modification of system elements.
