FASIM is a simulation package for nonlinear vehicle dynamics. The complete vehicle model is decomposed into subsystem models. Various subsystem models (modules) of different type and complexity are included in a model library and can be linked to a complete vehicle model. In the design of FASIM appropriate interface data between the modules had to be defined. Stating the equations of motion with the “kinematical differentials”-formalism permits to describe the coupling between mechanical subsystems by model-independent interface quantities. The simulation frame of FASIM computes vehicle dynamics, suspension kinematics, eigenvalues and stationary states. Comparison with measurements has shown the validity of the models.
