Formulae are given for calculating the lateral load, total shear force and the effect of sloshing pressure on the stress-strain state of corrugated bulkheads. The loads are represented in deterministic and probabilistic terms. For probabilistic representation, the load effects within different time periods in the ship’s life are considered by an approximate method. All stress calculations are performed in probabilistic terms, taking into consideration the uncertainties in the corrugation geometric properties and loads acting on it. Calculations confirm that the major failure mode of vertically corrugated bulkheads is buckling. The method allows to evaluate the effect of coating longevity on the risk that corrugated bulkheads will fail, to meet given renewal criteria over ship’s life. It can be used for design or during ship operation.
