The following study provides new strategies for suspension control of a railway carriage subjected to random track disturbance. We have numerically implemented different active and semi-active suspensions in a model of carriage of twelves degrees of freedom. The practical feasibility of the control system is numerically tested. To compute control force, new strategies are considered. These strategies are based on active and semi-active suspension concepts. Furthermore, preview control of our model is studied where the controller can use future information of the track defect, as well as present and past information, to determine the control force of our suspension.
