Traffic congestion significantly impacts drivers’ mental health, increasing stress, aggression, and driving anger, which is a major concern for road safety. This study examines the relationships between traffic congestion, aggression, anger mood, coping mechanisms, and driver stress among drivers in Dhaka, Bangladesh, using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, regression analysis, and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). Data from 326 responses, evenly distributed between high and low congestion periods, were collected using culturally adapted questionnaires. The analysis revealed significant pathways connecting congestion to stress, with aggression and anger serving as key mediators. This study underscores the complex dynamics between traffic congestion and driver mental health, with implications for urban planning, public health, and traffic safety in rapidly developing cities, aiming to enhance road safety and quality of life for urban drivers.
