A modified second order linearization method for solving stationary stochastic vibrations of nonlinear dynamic systems in the frequency domain was described by the author in 1986. Some problems with its use for lightly damped systems containing springs with cubic characteristics were encountered in the praxis. This paper deals with their cause and describes the procedure to be used in this case.
