A coupled method of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and rigid body dynamics is employed to analyze ship maneuvers with six degrees of freedom in viscous fluid. After a brief introduction to the method, the issues of modeling the rudder, propeller, hull and their interaction are discussed. While the ship and rudder are modeled geometrically, the propeller is simulated by a body force model. Steady drift tests as well as turning circle and Zigzag maneuvers are performed. Comparison with experimental data shows good agreement.
