The study develops a flow-recharging location model for economically siting recharging stations based on multiple origin-destination pairs with vehicle fleets of different sizes, and the location and number of stations determined using a mixed integer program, with a case study used to validate the model. Sensitivity analyses show that a fast recharging method would significantly reduce the number of stations required, while the locating capacity has a slightly negative influence on the number. In addition, the number of each type of station determined by different recharging rates can be used to evaluate the appropriate type and deployment of such stations at the destination areas from the viewpoint of total cost.
