This article is about improving non-motorized mobility in central urban areas. Multi-criteria decision aid (MCDA) is the methodological framework used to support two case studies in the city of Campinas, Brazil. The alternatives proposed in the structuring phase are specific to each of the cases and involve incremental solutions for meeting the stakeholders’ expectations. The evaluation shows that the most attractive alternatives are those that require the highest investment in infrastructure. On the other hand, the recommendation indicates the intermediate alternatives. A major benefit of applying the MCDA is the debate and the reflection about the problem throughout the decision-making process.
