The paper deals with the initial feasible study of a new concept of controlled road-friendly truck suspension. The ultimate objective of this suspsension is to decrease the road-tyre forces for trucks and by this means either to reduce the road damage or to increase the payload while keeping road damage unchanged. The novelty of this controlled suspension consists in combining the advantages of semi-active suspension (negligible energy consumption) and active suspension (best performance index). Limited-active suspension means that limited (prescribed) energy consumption can significantly improve the suspension performance with acceptable small energy consumption. The potential of limited-active road-friendly truck suspension is significant and further investigation is desirable.
