The paper presents fatigue tests with large scale models and analysis results of the European R & D project FatHTS. Investigated were frame corners with three different bracket details: symmetrical flange, symmetrical flange and additional bracket nose modification, and one-sided flange with sniped ends. Expected as well as unexpected cracks were observed during the fatigue tests. The results of the fatigue tests are compared with fatigue life predictions resulting from strain gauge measurements and different finite element calculations. The influence of different modelling and stress determination methods within the hot spot concept is shown.
