VANET(Vehicular ad hoc networks), in which vehicles directly exchange information through wireless communication with the dual purpose of increasing road safety and comfort in driving, have recently received great attention. Because of high dynamic topology and partitioned networks in VANET, an important problem in VANET is to find efficient ways to disseminate information on the target areas before the vehicle entering into another road. To aims to make a summary, comparison and analysis of the mainstream methods and the latest progress in the field, expecting to be helpful to the future research, the unicast routing strategy for VANET(Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks) as well as some closely related topics was stated. The problems of current research are discussed, and finally the future directions are pointed out.
