Abstract Recently, motorcycle explosion has become a big challenge for sustainable development in Hanoi city of Vietnam. Hanoi has been facing increased annoying issues, including congestions, environmental pollutions and accidents, leading to increase in delay and long queue formation at signalized intersections. Hence, the purpose of the study is to demote delay at isolated signalized intersections under mixed traffic flow with motorcycle-dominated. The optimum cycle length model is re-calibrated to the Hanoi traffic condition based on the Webster’s method. Delay is selected as the performance index in those models using VISSIM. By taking a typical intersection in Hanoi as a case study, the optimal scheme is identified to reduce average delay by 23.9%, which further verified the modeling capability of the proposed method.
