The growing demand for onboard services has provoked industry and academia to propose stable aeronautical networks that can overcome the significant link variations during aircraft long routes. Accordingly, the main focus of this chapter is employing, for the first time, the top-flight satcom (TFS) rack to measure the quality of service (QoS) metrics of real-time communications between suggested passengers and ground via satellite communications. For this purpose, the call traffic management algorithm is adopted to manage call/data transfer to control the response time of voice and data requests. Due to complexity and safety concerns related to making real-time onboard connections via satellites, a ground TFS testbed will be utilized to support the measurement. Measured results for power budgeting and QoS parameters are provided in the course of the chapter.
