The e-axleE-axle combines three important aggregates from the conventional drivetrain in one complex aggregate: It takes over the function of the diesel engine, that is providing power and torque, it takes over the function from the transmission in converting torque (and angular velocity) and offering different gears and it still is an axle with the numerous functions of an axle. The typical functions of axles besides driving the vehicle are support, spring suspension, rolling, braking and steering (see [3] for details).
