Monterrey metropolitan area (MMA) is among the three main cities in Mexico, one of the largest countries in Latin America; additionally, this city has one of the main automotive clusters in the region, so the evaluation of the energy performance of vehicles under real operating conditions in the area is relevant. Two studies determined the typical driving cycle for light vehicles monitored in the region, one to evaluate their real energy efficiency (~26%), with a cycle of 1,227 s, 8.96 km, and 0.078 L/km of specific fuel consumption. In the other, three driving cycles were obtained for the sizing of the electric drivetrain of a passenger bus from a holistic perspective; the typical cycle lasts 1,261 s, 5.25 km, and 0.218 L/km of specific fuel consumption.
