While the main focus of tourist safety has been on health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic it is important to also recall that the legal duty of care owed to travellers is very broad and extends right across the tourism industry. This chapter revisits the legal responsibilities of airlines, cruise lines, tour operators, and accommodation and entertainment providers to protect tourists from harm. Legal responsibilities are illustrated through examination of cases decided by the courts and commentary provided on the reasonable safety precautions the industry should take in the new normal.
