The synthesis of planar four-bar-linkage for two and three prescribed positions of the input and output links is classical to mechanism design. A revisit of this problem using equations of constraints is presented in this paper. Optimization problems are then formulated where best transmission angles (with or without link-length constraints) are additionally sought for. Several numerical examples are presented, accompanied by graphical representations of the design space of the respective synthesis problems using level-curve plots and partial-minima plots.
