The requirements for the design model of seismic input for structure calculations are analyzed. It is noted that the design model should not be outwardly similar to the real impact, but should take into account the main characteristics of past earthquake accelerograms. The kinematic and energy characteristics of seismic impacts were estimated using records of 140 accelerograms of past earthquakes with intensity 9 on the MSK scale. As a result of the research, it was found that, as was considered earlier, the kinematic characteristics significantly depend on the action spectral composition, while the energy characteristics do not depend. Among the energy characteristics, the Arias intensity, absolute cumulative velocity, seismic energy density, and root mean square acceleration are considered. The average values of the indicated characteristics have been established. A linear relationship between the Arias intensity and the absolute cumulative velocity and seismic energy density is shown. The obtained results should be used in the generation of design inputs to assess the buildings and structures seismic resistance.
