This chapter introduces the various building blocks of a complete SpaceFibre network, by proposing a design methodology behind each of them. We will introduce a general architecture of a SpaceFibre CoDec, focusing on the main challenges that a designer has to undertake in the development process of such a system. We will also present a bus functional model of a SpaceFibre communication bus, which can be used as a golden reference in the approach to the verification of the aforementioned CoDec. Then, the design of a SpaceFibre routing switch is presented, also here focusing on the main architectural challenges and design choices where the system designer shall play a major role. Finally, we will also introduce the architecture of a complex Electrical Ground Segment Equipment, which build on top of the CoDec a complex system for the verification and operation of a SpaceFibre-based network.
