Driving cycles are employed to assess energy consumption in electric vehicles or the fuel consumption and pollutant and emission factors exhibited by fuel-powered vehicles in a specific region. However, these estimations should be based on representative driving cycles. At times, it is necessary to construct driving cycles that expressly represent the driving characteristics in a city with a specific vehicle typology. In this study, 15 buses were monitored and operated for 8 months by drivers who routinely conduct these routes for the company, avoiding disruptions in regular operations. This work allowed the establishment of characteristic driving parameters for this type of vehicle in the study regions. Finally, through the Energy Micro-Trips method, it was possible to establish the driving cycles with characteristic parameters of 95% similarity to the trips monitored for these buses in Mexico City and Toluca.
