Abstract The hardware described in this chapter is based on the architecture proposed by SpaceWorks Engineering Inc. (SEI) [6]. The SEI architecture (see Chapter 3) is similar to NASA’s Constellation Design Reference Mission (DRM) and assumes a manned Mars mission will utilize the major elements of NASA’s Constellation development effort including a new family of all-chemical launch vehicles, flight components, ground services and no in-situ resource utilization (ISRU).
