The propeller is an integral part of an autonomous underwater vehicle’s (AUV) propulsion system. The propeller geometry is highly three-dimensional and complex. There are various parameters involved in the propeller design and every parameter plays a significant role in defining the nature of a propeller. In this domain, significant progress has already been made. This paper focuses on the study of different parameters involved in the design methodology of a propeller while discussing their effect on its geometry. The role of Wageningen B-series charts and NACA profiles in the design of propeller geometry is also discussed. The methodology is developed while targeting the propulsion system of an AUV.
