Aeroengine transient control has been analysed and one of the most important requirements for transient control is the safe and quick response to power request. Theoretically, the optimal operation is to follow the boundary of surge line (with surge margin) for acceleration while decreasing along burner blow-out limit for deceleration. However, in practice, surge and blow-out boundaries are extremely difficult to determine, particularly due to performance drift over flight envelope as well as engine usage cycle.
