Abstract Valve train variabilities at Diesel engines are a current topic both in light vehicle applications as well as for commercial vehicles. In the last years, both applications were investigated by Forschungsvereinigung Verbrennungsmotoren [1], [2]. There are series applications for light vehicle engines and for medium duty truck engines [3]. In heavy-duty truck engines, variable valve trains are currently only used with engine brakes.
