Abstract This paper discusses the PRA (Probabilistic Risk Assessment) development for the NASA TIMED (Thermosphère, Ionosphere, Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics) orbital science mission. A methodology is introduced for developing a mission PRA for a low complexity mission with limited assessment resources. For this activity, one overall PRA model set is produced based on previously completed instrument analyses as well as key additions including development of a top-level event-tree model, inclusion spacecraft deployment models, and logic and quantification improvements. Results include top cut sets and probabilities for full and minimum mission success.
