AI advances at an unprecedented rate; it gives excellent chances to improve the performance of many sectors and enterprises, including the transportation industry. The improvements brought about by artificial intelligence include very complex computing approaches designed to replicate how the human brain operates. Artificial intelligence in transportation helps deal with the difficulties of rising travel demand, emissions, public safety concerns, and environmental degradation. As autonomous vehicles (AVs) become more prevalent, the transportation sector will unavoidably transform. It is due to a significant aspect of AVs: instead of being controlled by human drivers, as is the case with conventional cars, AVs have the total potential to handle driving on their own. Thus, the future intelligent transportation system (FITS) may be a centrally managed and optimised system with completely coordinated vehicle driving, which is unfeasible with the present transportation systems.
