An unsignalized intersection is a real problem, specifically in the Indian context. Thus, understanding the main reasons for these problems, as the absence of road markings, road furniture, lane discipline and lack of awareness among drivers in a typical Indian context, is very important. These factors lead results in the conversion of unsignalized intersections into an accident-prone zone. For all these accidents, the main reasons reported after the accident depended on the intersection and driver characteristics like lack of speed control measures on that intersection, the vehicle traveling at high speed, not following traffic rules, and driver not being familiar with the road and intersection. At most of these intersections where the number of accidents was higher than other intersection, many similarities were found such as no posted speed limits, and if there, then not followed due to wrong positioning of signboards and misalignment of roads leading to intersection and lack of scientific reasons behind the posted speed limits. Hence, a scientific investigation behind posted speed on the roadways is necessary, especially in a city such as Hyderabad, where traffic rules are generally not appropriately followed. Hence, it is very important to study the overall speed characteristics of unsignalized intersections across various time periods and recommend suitable speed management measures.
