Abstract We consider the aircraft system hardware and software to measure the angular deflections of control surfaces. The experimental studies of a photoelectric transducer for converting the control surface angular deflections into digital codes are performed. The mathematical models are obtained to describe a dependence of measuring errors on the coordinates of emitter arrangement. The optimal emitter arrangement is determined using the mathematical models and a pilot model of the aircraft system proposed has been developed.
