The issue of using vortex generators to improve the take-off and landing characteristics of a transport category aircraft is considered. Examples of using the vortex generators on the aircraft wing and tail are provided and the physics of the phenomenon is analyzed. Data on computational and experimental studies of vortex generators are provided as well as recommendations for choosing the shape, size, and angles of their installation, depending on their functions and taking into account the possible drag increase from their installation.
