This chapter presents key classical control concepts and introduces state-space modeling and analysis of control systems as applied to the control of linear time-invariantLinear-Time-Invariant (LTI) (LTI) dynamical systems. This material is an integral part of Linear Systems Theory. It also represents the “backbone” of our book and becomes a prerequisite for understanding the book’s more advanced concepts. We assume that the reader has a basic knowledge of classical control, modeling, and analysis of LTI systems and matrix algebra. However, for clarity and completeness purposes, we shall devote this chapter to a review of these basics toward modeling and control of LTILinear-Time-Invariant (LTI) dynamical systems.
