Dangerous goods (DG) or Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) transported by ship play an important role in global economic development. Along with that, the transportation of dangerous goods is at an increasing risk of accidents. The consequences of dangerous goods incidents are difficult to estimate. Therefore, the International Maritime Organization has made efforts to introduce measures to improve safety, security, prevention, and control of the transport of dangerous goods through Conventions, Codes, and Guidelines related regulations. In particular, the IMDG Code is mandatory from January 1, 2022, so controlling dangerous goods transported by ship is an urgent issue today. The book chapter focuses on an overview of Dangerous goods transported by ship; Risk assessment of DG pollution from ships; Contingency planning of DG incidents from ships; Response to DG incidents from ships; and Management after DG incidents from ships. The content of the book chapter is both theoretical and practical; it is the basis for state managers at seaports, officers, crew members, and related individuals and organizations to understand and apply them to prevent accidents as well as be ready to respond when DG pollution incidents occur comply with the Conventions by the law. The book chapter is systematically compiled, based on international legal regulations in the maritime domain, and consists of 6 sections: Introduction; Dangerous goods transported by ship; Risk assessment DG pollution from the ship; Contingency planning of DG incidents from the ship; Response DG incidents from the ship; Management after DG incident from the ship; and Conclusion. This chapter is useful to students, graduate students, scientists, lecturers, and experts in the maritime field.
