Sustainability is not only a trend, but a driving factor in mobility business. The presentation highlights the contributing elements for considerations about sustainability along the lifecycle. Multiple factors determine the sustainability of tires, however, the largest magnitude of relevance is during its use-phase.
While Rolling Resistance, for example, has become an established parameter to visualize the energy efficiency, the presentation focuses on factors beyond rolling resistance and resulting potentials in tire and vehicle industry.
Tire Wear in service is not only subject to many discussions, but also a significant contributing factor in Emissions during Tire Service. The presentation illustrates the efforts of tire industry to objectivize and quantify Tire-Road-Wear Particles and to provide an understanding about their impact.
Finally, based on Wear Considerations, the presentations guides through the development of an standardized Tire-Wear Test (ETRTO) in order to allow consumers to have the responsible choice.
