A place to land a helicopter on a very tall building has often been planned and provided as part of the project. In some cities, helicopter landing areas are required by local laws or ordinances, but in most cases, they have been voluntarily provided to serve a functional purpose. These landing zones will be used for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) deployed for package delivery as well as human transport. This chapter outlines the hazards associated with aerial vehicle platforms and how to protect these platforms from the risk of fire.
