Docks are essentially facilities within the port, providing several berths for handling ships and exchanging goods and/or passengers. A port may have many different types (and sizes) of docks, each with a main operator responsible for various operations. Docks consist of dry and wet infrastructure, superstructures, cargo handling equipment, and human resources. Wet infrastructure is defined as the port basin, where one or more berths can receive ships.
