Abstract Accompanied with increasing resident trips in big cities nowadays, it puts forward higher requirements for urban railway transit to shorten reversal headway so as to improve operation efficiency. This paper presents EBIC curve and safety braking model, proposes the measure to shorten reversal headway by optimizing signaling track layout design. Case study of Xuzhou Metro Line1 shows that reversal headway can be effectively shortened in both CTC and ITC level via optimizing signaling track layout, which is of important reference for urban railway transit design, construction and operation management.
