Abstract In recent years the market share of automatic gearboxes saw a continous growth and recent studies suggests that this growth rate will continue. For low cost and entry level range of vehicles, the usual choice is the automated manual transmission. The main disadvantage of the automated manual transmission compared to other automatic gearboxes is the low performance during gear shifts. This paper contains a model of a vehicle equipped with an automated manual gearbox with focus on the gear change. The objective of this paper is to simulate the torque oscillations during gear change and reduce them in order to increase the comfort for the passengers.
