IGBT modules in traction converters are usually switching in high speed and operating at a high frequency. It will cause the voltage changing rate du/dt and the current changing rate di/dt in the power circuits. The conducted and radiated emission are the main EMI sources in traction converters. This paper studies the EMI sources generated in IGBT devices, and analyzes the coupling paths of EMI in traction converters. In the double-pulse test, the IGBT modules may have EMI problem caused by the ground loop system. The traction converter system may have a good performance on EMC by improving the power circuits topology, controlling method and IGBT drive technology.
