Since Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin’s first human space flight in 1961, over 560 people have completed space flights (Stepanek et al., N Engl J Med 380:1053–1060, 2019). Most of those eligible for space flight missions are highly trained and carefully selected astronauts with good physical and mental health, which is one of the crucial hurdles for space tourism.
