Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a multicarrier modulation technique that has been widely used in current technologies due to its many advantages. However, OFDM suffers from high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) that can distort OFDM’s good performance. To combat this problem, Selective Mapping (SLM) was used by many researchers but later discover that SLM requires side information (SI) to be transmitted to the receiver and waste the data rate. Blind receiver was proposed so that data can be recovered without transmission of SI. This paper studies two of the most famously used blind detectors which is Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Viterbi Algorithm (VA) and compares their performance.
