During the flight, the flight management system for four-dimensional trajectory-based operation (4D-FMS) estimates the horizontal error (cross track distance, azimuth error, longitudinal position error, etc.), vertical error (altitude error, vertical speed error, flight path angle error, etc.), and time error (error between ETA and RTA to the designated waypoint) based on the analyzed flight legs, leg/mode conversion instructions, and current flight status parameters.
