The paper focuses on analysis of tracked vehicles with skid steering system. Vehicle transmission is studied in terms of its kinematic parameter (kinematic factor) which is distance between point that keeps rectilinear speed and vehicle’s center of masses during turn taken in relation to vehicle’s tread. The relation between steering mechanism kinematic parameter (kinematic factor) and vehicle performance during turn is investigated. The ways of improving vehicle performance by altering kinematic parameter of steering mechanism are proposed. The kinematic diagrams of electromechanical and friction transmissions with ability to alter kinematic factor are presented. The analysis of suggested transmissions and conclusion about its perspectives are given.
