Modern civil aircraft use digital fly-by-wire flight control system (FBW) to replace the traditional mechanical control system. FBW has the advantages of aircraft control and performance improvement, system and structure weight reduction, easy maintenance, but also introduces more types of failure modes, especially oscillatory failure concerned in this paper. Excessive oscillatory failure will bring serious hazards to aircraft controllability and structural loads. This paper focus on the FBW oscillation failure, analyzes the FBW oscillation failure causes, gives typical monitor strategy for oscillatory failures, evaluation of several typical oscillation monitoring design scheme. At last, the oscillation monitor technology development is discussed.
