The development of new approach for the application of existing maintenance programs in aviation is one of the key factors in improving economic efficiency of Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisation. The main direction for improvement is the use of modern technical monitoring systems for various parameters of the aircraft and its main components. The use of health monitoring systems provides many parameters, but at the same time requires the development of new models for their application.

Current tire replacement rules for aircrafts consider both limits for maximum flights quantity and minimum tread depth, with aircraft owner checking wears and cuts absence daily. When active operation season comes, the current situation leads to high loads on the wheel maintenance shop, and downtime risks due to the lack of replacement. Ongoing research project focuses on providing predictable workload without peaks for wheel shop, with downtime risks for airplanes to be minimized. Accurate removal date forecasting for each wheel could help in work optimization for wheel shop.
