It is a practical option to feature a propulsion with propellers in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. During transitional flight, aircraft stability is significantly influenced by the coupling flow field between propellers and other components of the aircraft. This study investigates the aerodynamic interaction of various propellers on a lift-thrust hybrid configuration eVTOL aircraft. The SST k-ω turbulence model is utilized to simulate the performance of the lift and lift-thrust hybrid configurations. The asymmetric aerodynamic load effect of the lift-propeller and the performance of the thrust-propeller are analyzed using the Multiple Reference Frame (MRF) and Sliding Mesh Model (SMM) methods. The results reveal that the lift coefficient decrement of rear-mounted lift-propellers is 16.7% lower compared to front-mounted ones at 5000 rpm. This is attributed to the blocking effect of the slipstream from front-mounted propellers, which increases the nose-up moment of the aircraft. Based on the aerodynamic interaction analysis and flow field details, it is recommended to maintain a suitable negative angle of attack during transitional flight.
