Abstract This chapter addresses the efficient computation of accurate sensitivity information in the aerodynamic design process. Mathematically, this sensitivity information is expressed by a derivative of a function that is defined via the numerical model of the aerodynamic system. This function links a number of independent variables to relevant target quantities such as lift, drag, or pitching moment.
