As an intensive and efficient way of cargo transportation, intermodal transport can take full advantage of various modes of transport through effective combinations. However, there is a problem of lacking effective data connection between collaborators leading to broken business processes, reduced collaborative efficiency, and hindering the development of the intermodal transport industry. In this paper, we propose a data exchange and sharing framework by integrating blockchain technology and edge computing technology to realize efficient, convenient, safe, and credible data exchange, which also conveniently connects different partners of various modes of transport and then promotes cross-sector and cross-system data exchange and sharing in the intermodal transport environment. Furthermore, the ecosystem of intermodal transport data exchange and sharing based on the proposed framework can effectively meet the requirements of scalability, security, believability, and privacy protection.
