In today’s world where car accidents are very common and cause deaths of several individuals, preventing such accidents and detecting them if it happens become very crucial. In recent years, distractions, driver drowsiness, etc., have caused road accidents which lead to the death of many people. Internet of Things (IoT) can really help the victims of car accidents by automatically sending Save our Souls (SOS) messages to nearby hospitals with the location of the vehicle. The proposed project focuses primarily on improving the safety of passengers and the driver by using the Internet of Things. The system is a combination of both accident detection and accident prevention systems. The system detects accidents and sends an SOS message along with the location of the vehicle to the nearby hospitals, police station and family members of the injured. The system also uses an eye flicker sensor which monitors the blinks of the driver and detects whether the driver is drowsy or not. In case the driver is found drowsy, then the buzzer will beep and if the driver doesn’t wake up then the speed of the car will automatically drop by 75% to avoid any massive accident.
